The Plan (2012)

Published on March 1, 2012 by in Store Music

‘The Plan’ is a 75 minute musical about God’s story of love, redemption, and relationship with mankind. It starts at creation, in the book of Genesis, and highlights special events in God’s historical timeline, including the fall of man and sin’s consequences in the Old Testament, and journeys through the Bible including the book of Revelation and into eternity with the “new heaven and a new earth.” It includes 14 songs, a poignant drama script, a gripping video, scenes of God the Father (Old Testament), God, the Son (New Testament), and God, the Holy Spirit (book of Acts, NT), and how we are to be living now as ‘Acts 29’ Christians. ‘The Plan’ is clear, simple, easy to understand, deep, moving, and emotional. It is real, it is truth, it is God’s story and can be used anytime of the year.

Song 1 – God is Love: The Beginning

Lead Sheet (Free) | 30 Second Sample (Free) | Demo ($1.29) | Track ($1.29) | Soundtrack ($1.29)

Words/music by Jim Lucas, c. 2012
Written: Week of February 19, 2012 for the ’God, the Father—opening section of ’The Plan.’

Scripture: Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9

KEY OF C: UNDERSCORE—begins the song (darkness over the face of the deep)

SPOKEN Narrative:
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him is life, and the life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness but the darkness has not understood it.

Verse 1 (creation verse)
There was light, there was day, there was night, there was sky

And it was good.
There was land, there was sea, there were plants, there were trees
And it was good.
There was sun, there was moon, there were fish, there were birds
And it was good, and many living creatures moving on the ground.
Then God said, “let us make man in our image
And let them rule the birds, the fish, and every living thing.
(choir speaks) and God breathed into man the breath of life (3 times—with increasing volume)
In the image of God He created man.
He looked at all He’d made; said it was very good.
And rested on the seventh day, and made it holy.
God is love, God is love, God is love.

[underscore continues for a moment, then… chaos on stage; the serpent is doing his lying]

CHOIR SPOKEN: Eat this fruit, eat this fruit, eat this fruit, eat this fruit [increasing volume]

[dramatic underscore as Adam and Eve flee the Garden of Eden, never to return]

Song 2 – God is Love: The coming of Jesus

Lead Sheet (Free) | 30 Second Sample (Free) | Demo ($1.29) | Track ($1.29) | Soundtrack ($1.29)

Words/music by Jim Lucas, c. 2010
Written: February 20, 2012 simple version; less orchestration; vocally predominant

Scripture: Deuteronomy 7:9 – Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. — I John 4:7-21 – 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

KEY OF C: Chorus
God is love, God is love
He has a plan to redeem sinful man.
God is love, God is love
He has a plan to redeem fallen man.

Song 4 – Looking to You: Father, Your Will Be Done in Me

Lead Sheet (Free) | 30 Second Sample (Free) | Demo ($1.29) | Track ($1.29) | Soundtrack ($1.29)

Words/music by Jim Lucas, c. 2012
Written: begun on the Cruise Ship: Carnival Liberty between Jan 22-26 in the cabin stateroom – Continued Feb 3/12 and finished on Feb 4/12. Written for the new, original Easter MusicDrama: ‘The Plan’ (being presented 3.30.12) This is the song to be sung as Jesus is praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, just before the soldiers come to take him (late Thursday pm) away. Written in a way that the 2012 Acts 29 Christian can also pray the same pray for his/her life and what he/she is facing.

Verse 1
I’ve walked the paths where You have had Me go
I’ve gone from town to town and told Your story
And Oh, My Heavenly Father,
When I could go no further
I left the crowds to find a holy place
Where I could be alone and wait on You
And in Your holy time I’d know just what to do.
And here I am again in another holy place
Calling out, crying out to You.

Chorus
I’m looking to You to fulfill Your plan in Me
I’m looking to You as I seek and humbly pray
Father, ev’ry time I need to hear a word from You
You are faithful to answer
I’m looking to You, for Your love for Me is sure
I’m looking to You, for I know You’ll guide me thro’ this hour
Father, I surrender, all to You surrender
And evermore Your will be done in Me.

Verse 2
Whatever’s next for me along the way
I know that I can fully trust You, Father
So as I’m here before Your face
I pray You give me strength and grace
I only want to do Your holy will
And when the pain is more than I can bear
I know that You’ll be near, just a breath away
And I’ll cry out again, in another holy place
Calling out, crying out to You.

REPEAT Chorus

ENDING TAG:
I’m looking to You to fulfill Your plan in Me
I’m looking to You, Your will be done in me.

(scripture) When He ascended on high, He took many captives and gave gifts to His people.

The whole universe.” [Ephesians 4:8-10]

The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to its foes.

No never, no never forsake!

Song 8 – Resurrection Story

Lead Sheet (Free) | 30 Second Sample (Free) | Demo ($1.29) | Track ($1.29) | Soundtrack ($1.29)

Words/music by Jim Lucas, c. 2012
Written: Valentines Day, February 14, 2012, which is also my wife’s birthday In sharing the story of this song to Joanna, and telling her I wasn’t sure what the title should be, she suggested: Resurrection Story. So that’s what it is. Happy Birthday, Joanna, and thank you. You are a blessing to me. Written for my new original Easter Presentation (Palm Sunday, 2012) ‘The Plan’ to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Chirst.

Scripture: Matthew 28:1-17; Mark 16:1-9; Luke 24:1-12; John 20:1-18

VERSE 1
It was early morning on the first day of the week
As the women made their way to the tomb where Jesus lay
And as they walked they had a question on their mind
Who would roll the stone away so they could go on in?
They did not remember all the words that Jesus said
They only knew, for sure, their closest friend was dead.
But in the meantime God was carrying out His plan
The promised resurrection of His one and only Son!

VERSE 2
There was a vi’lent earthquake as an angel of the Lord
Came down from heaven and rolled away the stone
His appearance was like lightning and his clothes as white as snow
The guards were so afraid they shook and fell down to the ground
The women came, in their despair, upon the tomb that day
And to their great amazement the tomb stood open wide
The angel said, why do you look for the living among the dead?
The Son of man, must be crucified, but on the third day rise again!

CHORUS
Halle, halle, hallelu, Jesus is alive
Halle, halle, hallelu, Jesus is alive

Jesus, whom you seek, is risen from the dead
I cannot say it clearer, He is not here
Now go tell everybody, till everybody knows that
Jesus is not here, He is risen.
(repeat)

Halle, halle, hallelu, Jesus is alive
Halle, halle, hallelu, Jesus is alive

REPEAT CHORUS 1

REPEAT Bridge 1 (instrumental underscore only)

[Narrative as underscore is played]

Jesus: “It was my Father’s plan that I come, that I walk among you, that I show you the way, the truth and the light. I had to suffer and die so that you might experience the redeeming power of His love for you. Now, I must go (crowd reacts) No… this too is a part of His plan. You cannot continue in your own strength, once I am gone. Remember that John baptized you with water, but you will be baptized by the Holy Spirit in a few days. He will give you the power to testify about me, my life, my death, and my resurrection to all the people in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and to the ends of the earth. [drama: Jesus is now being raised up as he continues speaking]
Now go and wait for His power to come upon you and then teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
