Turning to You, God (2010)

This collection is about seeking God in the II Chronicles 7:14 way: “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves…” a collection that is straight-forward about being humble before God, passionate about drawing the Church to repentance, and rightness of heart with songs like “Jesus, We Need You,” “I Surrender All, Lord” “Purify My Worship,” and “Turning to You, God” but also about introducing new, vibrant, praise and worship songs like “Better is a Day,” and “Follow You to You.” The song themes were inspired from Gary Wright’s book—Worship Awakening. Songs for choir, small groups, and congregational worship, these songs will become a staple in your local church. Both guitar and keyboard driven songs.

SCRIPTURE: “How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty. My Soul years, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.(v1,2) Blessed are those who dwell in Your house. They are ever praising You. Better is a day with You, God, with You, God
Better is a day in Your courts than a thousand days in a different place
Just one day in your courts, better is a day.

VERSE 2
How blessed are those who dwell with You, O Lord, how blessed are those who dwell with You.

HISTORY: written: Friday, August 27, 2010; what is the full meaning of Following Jesus to Jesus. I’m still discovering that. It is an awesome, awesome phrase; a real truth from the Word of God. Jesus wants us to follow Him… to Himself. He wants to lead us to Himself. What discoveries are there! What joys, fulfillment, peace, understandings about life. It is mind-boggling. Yet, He says and commands: ‘follow Me to Me; put down your nets, and follow Me to Me’
SCRIPTURE: “Come, follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men,” (Jesus) Matthew 4:19 and then it says, “at once they left their nets and followed Him.” Incredible. Powerful. *same statement in Mark 1:17,18+ Jesus also said in Matthew 16:24: “if anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me v25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me will find it.”

CHORUS
I will follow You, Jesus, I will follow You to You I will leave my nets behind me, and I’ll follow You to You

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; and his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. Hear my voice when I call, O Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. My heartsays of You, “seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger. You have been my helper.” *v1-8]

HISTORY: written: July 19, 2010 in response to the book: ‘WORSHIP awakening’)
SCRIPTURE: see Luke 7:36-50 concerning that woman with the alabaster jar washing Jesus’ feet with the perfume. Look at verse 45 when Jesus says “this woman, from the time I entered has not stopped kissing my feet” (NIV). Also, the scene in Luke 10 where Mary is worshiping Jesus and Martha is concerned with only preparing a meal as opposed to just being with Jesus. (Luke 10:38-42) See also comparison. John 12:1-9.

VERSE 1
When it seems Your presence isn’t near.
When it seems You are so far away
When it seems like forever since we ate a meal together
And I sense my love for You is not the same
You begin to remind me, You’ve not walked away
And I feel Your Spirit draw me back to You.

CHORUS
(and) I begin to worship at Your feet.
I begin to worship at Your feet
I begin to worship You, O Lord, at Your feet.
And I know without question that’s where I’m called to live
At Your feet is my place of worship

VERSE 2
Lord, I know I’ve given my life to You.
And I know You‟re everything I need.
Jesus, there’s no one like You, truly, no one is like You,
I give all praise and glory to Your name
You are Lord of creation, and I want my life
To be one that is surrendered back to You.

HISTORY: written: July 20, 2010; evening hours in response to the book: ‘WORSHIP awakening’ when Gary D. Wright says: “Jesus didn’t come to turn us into worshipers, rather to turn us into God-worshipers. We don’t need to be taught how to worship, instead we need to be taught how to purify our worship, focusing it toward God.” Chapter 2. p.37 )
SCRIPTURE: See John 4:23-29 “A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is Spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” The woman said, “I know that Messiah,” (called Christ) “is coming. When He comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.” Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find hiM talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” Or “Why are you talking to her?” Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, Come see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” (NIV)

CHORUS
Purify my worship, Transform my worship,
I want to worship in spirit and truth
From the wee morning hours to the end of my days,
I ask You, Lord. I pray, O Lord, purrify my worship.

VERSE

Make pure all my thoughts. Make pure all my ways.
Whatever’s not pure, whatever’s not right,
I ask You, Lord, Please make it right!

Words/music by Jim Lucas, c. 2010

HISTORY: written: September 7 & 10, 2010)
Written as one more expression of the reality of just how great God is, and that while He is very great, in my frailty and humanness, I am a friend of God and He is my closest, dearest Friend. He is truly God and Friend. Wow, Incredible!

MIGHTY GOD
The mighty One, God, the Lord., speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. Psalm 50:1. But from now, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the Mighty God.. The Mighty One, God, the Lord! The Mighty One, God, the Lord! He knows! Joshua 22:22

BLESSED SAVIOR
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. Luke 1:47. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Titus 3:5,6 The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior! Psalm 18:46

GLORIOUS LORD
Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; let this be know to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you. Isaiah 12: 5,6. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

PRECIOUS FRIEND
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. And from John 15: 14-17 “You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit; fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name. This is my command. Love each other.”

VERSE 1
What a mighty God! What a blessed Savior!
What a glorious Lord! What a precious Friend!
To know You are my King! To know I am Your child!
What a mighty God! What a precious Friend!

VERSE 2
What a mighty God! What a blessed Savior!
What a glorious Lord! What a precious Friend!
O God of Israel, I exalt Your name!
What a mighty God! What a precious Friend!

VERSE 3
What a mighty God! What a blessed Savior!
What a glorious Lord! What a precious Friend!
I will worship you, both now and evermore!
What a mighty God! What a precious Friend!

VERSE 1
There I was, lost on the hillside of nowhere, all alone, with no hope around
No way to send out a signal that I was caught in sin’s thicket

“This may be someone coming to my rescue”
And there was Jesus, reaching nail-scarred hands to me.

CHORUS

He died, my soul to save Eternity’s not long enough to give Him thanks, to give Him praise.

VERSE 2
So if you’re lost, on the hillside of nowhere, and you think:

and the sound of redemption‟s drawing near.
Yes, there’s Someone coming to your rescue And it’s Jesus, reaching nail-scarred hands to you.

HISTORY: written: Monday, August 2, 2010. (further text Aug 15) Just woke up in the morning with this praise on my lips
SCRIPTURE: Rev 20: 12-15, v15 if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. And Revelation 21:27: nothing impure will ever enter it (the city of God) nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

VERSE 1 [personal testimony verse]
I’m so glad Jesus found me on that day so long ago,
Found me when I had gone astray He spoke right to my heart;
Spoke right to my soul, reaching out His arms from Calvary.
Oh, there wasn’t a question, that I needed to accept Him as my Savior and my Lord
And as I was repenting, heaven was rejoicing over one more sinner who was lost, but now is found!

CHORUS 1
O My name has been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life
I’ve been saved and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
There’s no need to fret and worry, as I walk along life’s journey
That my name has been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life

VERSE 2 [young Christian]
If you’re new to the kingdom, We welcome you today.
We’re so glad you‟ve come to know the Lord
There’s been sweet rejoicing, since your name’s been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life in heav’n above
So, let us walk together, And by faith we’ll see how God’s hand will see you through
And as you face tomorrow and all the days that follow
Remember Jesus saved you, and praise His name!

VERSE 3 [seasoned followers, and as you journey through life]
So when you get discouraged, and there’ll be times you will,
Know that Jesus is walking by your side
And in those times of doubt, keep your eyes on things above for
Jesus will bring vict’ry through it all.
No matter if you’re youthful, or getting up in years,
You know that you’ve been born again
Keep that smile on your face , and the joy in your heart
And Come and join me in this song of the redeemed.

TAG
That my name has been written, that my name has been written
That my name has been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life
