Words/music by Jim Lucas, c. 2008

HISTORY: written: Oct 1-2, 2008 Written for the women’s ministries of the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene; with the theme: ALOHA (always lifting our hearts above).

SCRIPTURE: From Psalm 5:3 “in the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Isn’t that awesome! The expectation of God answering, of God moving. Do it, Lord! And from Psalm 20:5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests. As the ’Amplified’ says: “We will shout in triumph at your salvation and victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. And then from Philippians 4:6. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, WITH THANKSGIVING (i.e. praise) present your requests to God.” As the ’Message’ says it: Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in Him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute. (so) Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”

VERSE 1
I will not fear, I will trust You;
I’ll keep the faith, and walk in Your light
I’ll speak Your truth and let it shine through me, Jesus, Jesus.
I’ll follow You as You lead me;
You are the Light, the Truth, and the Way
I know in You I have the answer, Jesus, Jesus

CHORUS
I will lift my heart to You alone;
I will lift my praise before Your throne,
I will sing, I will sing.
I will lift my heart to You alone;
I will lift my praise before Your throne,
I will sing, I will sing and lift my heart of praise.

VERSE 2
This is the day You have made, Lord,
I will rejoice and choose to be glad!
Whatever comes I know You‟ll be there, Jesus, Jesus!
I’m letting go the things that would hinder.
I’m pressing on, the prize in my sight.
And now I soar on wings like eagles, Jesus, Jesus!

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
You are mighty, You are worthy, God.
You are holy, You are awesome, God. (repeat)

REPEAT CHORUS

HISTORY: written: October, 2008 Written for Worship Workshop theme 2008 for the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene. Inspired from the book by Tommy Tenney: ‘Finding Favor with the King’ as taken from the story of the book of Esther. It’s the hearts cry of this believer to not just praise from the outer courts, but, even better, to praise in the very presence of the King of kings and Lord of lords, AND my personal Savior.

CHORUS 1
Wanna run past the gates, through the courts, run into the place where
Your glory dwells, and worship, Lord, and worship;
I wanna bow down before Your holy throne, let You cleanse my heart,
Make it all Your own as I worship, as I worship.

VERSE 1
Past the gates till all I see is You in all Your majesty, and I worship, Lord,
I worship Past the gates till all I hear is my Redeemer calling me to worship, Oh, to worship!

BRIDGE 1
No more wand’ring aimlessly around.
No more lookin’ where You won’t be found.
No more tryin’ to reach You from a distance.
I know where my God is, I know where my God is.

CHORUS 2
Wanna run past the gates, through the courts run into the place where Your glory dwells,
And worship, Lord, and worship;
I wanna bow down before Your holy throne,

Where Your glory dwells
Where Your glory dwells
Where Your glory dwells past the gates
Where Your glory dwells.

HISTORY: written: September 28,2008 for ‘Past the Gates’ Worship Workshop 2008; with thoughts and prayers for the new class ‘Desperate for His Presence,’ and this period of holy discontent which our church is experiencing. We are praying for the moment of God among us; that His Spirit not only revive us, but take us to new levels of intimacy in His presence. Various of the Psalms deal with hungering and thirsting. This simple song echoes those heart cries for Jesus to move in our individual lives and as a collective body. Do it now, Jesus! Move now. Speak now. “I’m not leaving..” I will stay in Your presence till the floodgates open.”

CHORUS 1
I’m desp’rate for Your presence,
I’m longing for Your Spirit
To move upon me, Jesus,
Right here and now.
Don’t hold back any longer.
Let the floodgates open
Let me hear from heaven right here and now.

VERSE 1
Jesus, my heart’s wide open;
Jesus, I stand here waitin’ Jesus,
I’m desp’rate for You.
Jesus, know that I’m not leavin’,
Jesus, You’ve got my attention Jesus,
I’m desp’rate for You.

BRIDGE 1
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace, Jesus,
I’m desp’rate for You Awesome God, Great I Am,
King of kings, Lord of Lords, Jesus, I’m desp’rate for You.

FINAL TAG
I’m desp’rate for Your presence (3x)
Right here and now.
