I Will Seek You (2005)

Published on May 25, 2005 by in Store Music

A collection of 16 songs drawn from the Inner Court Worship [ICW]series, with Pastor Jim and Water’s Edge (mixed ensemble). A ‘live’ rendition of some of the same songs from ICW, but this time with a small group of singers and keyboard. An intimate ‘Live’ worship experience in the presence of Jesus.

Tender, sacred moments captured from a ‘studio’ recording, recorded on the stage of the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene. I gathered together eight of my strong, praying worship singers, and we sang each of the songs in a free style (spiritual song) with just the keyboard, letting them go where the Spirit led us.

Song #1 – We Will Be Still

Lead Sheet (Free) | 30 Second Sample (Free) | Demo ($1.29)

[demo: vocal ensemble + digital keyboard, no accompaniment available]
Words/music by Jim Lucas, original c. 1990

HISTORY: written: in the chapel on the campus of Aldersgate Bible College, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada during a Lucas family reunion in 1990. I had enjoyed much needed ‘catch up’ time with my brothers & sisters and family, but needed time alone. I want to the chapel piano wanting to be alone with God, and this is one of those songs I played and sang instantly, ie. The words and music were written simultaneously and instantaneously as I played and sang. I took the song back to my musical family and for better than an hour we sang variation after variation of this song. It has been sung in various keys and various ways; Amen, however God leads you to sing it, that’s ok. Be blessed, be encouraged because we WILL be still and know that He IS God!

CHORUS
We will be still and know You are God (3x)
In this sacred, holy place, we will know that You are God.

Song #4 – Simple Song of Praise

Lead Sheet (Free) | 30 Second Sample (Free) | Demo ($1.29)

[demo: vocal + digital keyboard, no accompaniment available]
Words/music by Jim Lucas, original c. 2000++++

HISTORY: written: on the Friday of our 2002 Worship Workshop. We had invited special guest soloist, Robin Giles from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir to be our guest speaker for the workshop. She recorded a real rough version of this song with us to give us a way to sing the verse in a very soulful way, and helped me modify the notes in such a way as to bring out the emotion of the text. Thank you, Robin. I’m grateful to Debbie Fillmore, from my choir, who sings the solo (verse) with so much fervor and passion. This song was written in about 30 minutes.

CHORUS
Lord, I simply want to worship You, lift You up and worship You with a simple song of praise through all of my days. Lord I simply want to worship You, lift You up and worship You with a simple song of praise, with a simple song of praise.

VERSE
I come, Lord, before You not asking for anything, but to simply, simply offer You this sacrifice of praise

Song #5 – I Choose To Worship You

Lead Sheet (Free) | 30 Second Sample (Free) | Demo ($1.29)

[demo: vocal ensemble + digital keyboard, no accompaniment available]
Words/music by Jim Lucas, original c. 2003

HISTORY: written: During a Wednesday night prayer meeting, when one of our choir members came to the mike and during her testimony spoke of making her choice to worship Jesus over anybody or anything else. I immediately began to write the song as she continued testifying because I was playing the keyboard , imporovising softly as various people would speak. When she finished testifying and praying, I had finished the song. It was a very unique experience in that I was creating the song literally as she testified/prayed. That evening I gave the song to our worship team, we sang it the following Sunday, and the rest, as they say, is history. This is one of the trilogy of songs we’ve sung regularly over the years including 2012 (the other two songs are “You are Amazing” and “Sitting At The Feet of Jesus.” NOTE: all three of these songs were completely written within 15 minutes)

CHORUS
I choose to worship You, I choose to honor You I choose to magnify Your holy name. I choose to lift my hands in an act of joyful praise. Lord I choose, I choose to worship You.

VERSE
With all my heart, with all my mind, with all my strength, with all my life.

Words/music by Jim Lucas, original c. 2005

HISTORY: written: on March 1, 2005 as the ‘Faith Promise’ theme song. This is a mission-based song drawing from 2 Corinthians 4:5,6,7,8,16. “For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed… therefore we do NOT lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly, we are being renewed day by day…”

VERSE 1
We do not preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord. We do not preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord. We’ll let our light shine out of darkness, we’ll let our light shine out of darkness for Your glory for Your glory

VERSE 2
We may be pressed on ev’ry side, but we will stand. We may be pressed on ev’ry side, but we will stand. So that the life of Christ shines thro’ us So that the life of Christ shines thro’ us for His glory, for His glory
